Curriculum Intent
“Part of the versatility of Maths is that once you’ve got a well-stocked tool kit, you’ll be able to tackle the issues that arise from many different scenarios and applications”
Vicky Neale (Why Study Maths).
Our maths curriculum fully embraces the aims as set out in the national curriculum. Our curriculum is nurturing and challenging. Our curriculum sets out to shape our students’ ability to reason mathematically, appreciate the beauty and power of mathematics, and build a sense of enjoyment & curiosity about the subject. We have designed our curriculum in a logical order to meet the needs of all of our students; with them specifically in mind and with much consideration of our local context.
We want our students to be RATIONAL:
We aim to achieve this by
- Creating the love of learning Maths and equipping our students with the cultural capital
- Developing confident and articulate mathematicians, who are able to reason and think logically
- Creating a supportive learning environment so that our students become successful learners who are ready to learn, make progress and achieve their potential
- Stretch, challenge and build resilience in every lesson
- Providing an appropriate range of opportunities and experiences to inspire pupils to succeed in the next stage in their education, training or employment
