Learn more about Refugee Week
Refugee Week starts on Monday, June 20, and it’s a celebration of the contribution, creativity and resilience of refugees and those seeking sanctuary.
The week offers a programme of arts, culture, sport and educational events alongside media campaigns. It enables people from different backgrounds to connect beyond labels and encourages understanding of why people are displaced and the challenges they face.
Refugee Day, June 20, and the following week is a platform for people who have sought safety in this country so they can share their experiences and perspectives.
This year the week has the theme of ‘healing’ and will be a celebration of community, mutual care and the human ability to start again.
Our library has a special display and there is a great reading list for some inspiration on choosing your next title.
