Top Sixth Form Mathematicians Shine in Prestigious Competitions
Our top sixth form mathematicians have recently achieved remarkable success in two prestigious mathematical competitions: the Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC) and the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls (MOG). These events provided an excellent platform for our students to showcase their skills and dedication to mathematics.
In the SMC, our students faced a challenging 90-minute, 25 multiple-choice question first round, aimed at Year 13 students and below. The problems were designed to stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, offering a stimulating experience for both beginners and seasoned math enthusiasts. Our students performed exceptionally well, demonstrating their strong analytical abilities and perseverance.
The MOG saw outstanding participation from Vojini, Liliana, Kristina, and Lily. This high-level competition, aimed at girls and young women across the UK, consisted of five challenging problems that tested their mathematical prowess. Vojini's hard work earned her a Merit, while Lily's exceptional performance was recognised with a Distinction. Their achievements in this demanding competition reflect not only their talent but also their dedication and commitment to excellence in mathematics.
These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and passion our students bring to their studies. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them continue to excel in future competitions.
