Buzzing for new books
The annual Bookbuzz proved a hit with new books wrapped and delivered to students who chose them thanks to this initiative.
All students in Years 7 and 8 were able to choose their own title which was paired with a candycane bookmark and individually wrapped by our librarian Miss Robinson.
The Bookbuzz offered 17 titles for students to choose from, and the top choice was You are a Champion, by footballer Marcus Rashford which was followed very closely ( just one book) by Horror Heights and When the Sky Falls.
All of the books on the list are available to borrow from our library along with any in the series if it is part of one, along with any others written by the same author.
"The Bookbuzz programme offers a wide range of books for our students to choose from, there really is something for everyone. It promotes reading for pleasure and a positive reading culture and is really special to be able to gift the students their books before the Christmas break and to see how excited they all are to receive them," said Miss Robinson.
Last year's group was delighted to be part of the initiative and had plenty to say about the titles they chose.
"The book attracted me because it is about football and I really like football. It's nice having a book related to something I like," said one who chose You are a Champion.
"I like the slime dripping down the pages in Horror Heights," said another.
"I liked the outline of the story. I am interested in the tension between making choices," said a reader of When the Sky Falls.
